Bringing the outside in

Hoban Design · Wimbledon, London · 2023
Hardware by Joseph Giles

The Project

A Wimbledon home that takes its name from its gardens — mature planting, water features and paved paths. Hoban Design carried that outside in: a colour scheme, textures and transitional spaces that keep the garden present in every room.

Shortlisted for the International Design & Architecture Awards in 2023.

The Hardware

Montgomery diamond knurl, and the Cube edge pull

Solid brass, hand-finished in Dark Bronze. Used across the kitchen, wine room, dressing room and bathrooms — one family of hardware carried through the whole house.

Why it works

Dark bronze is the quietest way to put texture at hand height. Against walnut and rattan it all but disappears from across the room — then you reach for it and find the diamond knurl. That is the argument for spending on cabinet hardware: the room stays calm, and the detail is saved for the moment of contact.
