Baldwin

Forged Solid Brass · Reading, Pennsylvania · Est. 1946

Founded in 1946 by Severin Fayerman in Reading, Pennsylvania, Baldwin was built on the belief that the most enduring design lives in the details. For 80 years the brand has set the standard in luxury door hardware, distinguished by its signature hot-forged solid brass — engineered for substantial weight and strength, then hand-finished to age beautifully over a lifetime of daily use.

The Art of Forged Brass

Skilled artisans transform raw brass through heat forging — an age-old technique that yields denser, stronger, heavier pieces than casting or stamping. Each billet is cut, forged in a specialized die, trimmed, ground and polished in two stages to a lasting shine. Solid brass naturally resists corrosion, so the hardware holds its shape and finish far longer than plated or hollow-cast alternatives.

Bradford’s Point of View

Why Bradford loves Baldwin

We love Baldwin for its uncompromising substance — forged solid brass, made in America, built to last a lifetime. There’s a reassuring heft and precision to every piece. It’s a philosophy that feels deeply aligned with our own at Bradford Hardware, where the details are never just details.
