FSB

Brakel, Germany · Est. 1881

FSB (Franz Schneider Brakel) has manufactured door and window hardware exclusively in Germany for over a century, founded in 1881 and rooted in Brakel, East Westphalia since 1909. What began as ornate brass fittings evolved through the Bauhaus and the ergonomic hand-form work of Johannes Potente into a philosophy of design, sharpened when Otl Aicher joined in 1981. Today FSB collaborates with designers like Foster + Partners, David Chipperfield, Jasper Morrison and John Pawson to make handles that bring architecture to life.

Products For The Hand

FSB produces end-to-end, partly handcrafted door and window handles in Brakel, working in aluminium, brass, stainless steel and bronze. Its design language grows from Otl Aicher four principles of grasping, treating the handle as an object shaped for human touch.
